The online holiday shopping is well underway as demonstrated by a 9 percent gain in sales on Thanksgiving Day with $1.1 billion being handed over to retailers before the holiday dishes had even been washed. Black Friday sales also experienced a nice jump this year, increasing 10 percent to $1.7 Billion.
According to a report by comScore, overall online spending (from a desktop) during the month of November was up 5 percent over last year, which could lead to a happy holiday, indeed for retailers. These numbers do not include mobile sales.
Cyber Monday is currently underway, and almost 50 percent of shoppers plan to shop online, according to the national Retail Federation’s Cyber Monday Expectations Survey conducted by Posper Insights & Analytics.
Desktop or Mobile?
Almost one quarter (24.4%) will be doing their shopping via mobile, while 80 percent will use their home computers to do their online shopping.
